Guatemala holds IV Summit of the Immigrant

The IV Summit of the Immigrant, which will be held from November 17 to 18, is expected to generate $8 million in trade, according to information from the Ministry of Economy.

During the two-day event, at least 60 American companies whose proprietors are Guatemalans will be in the country. They will join 80 local small business owners.

Guatemalan Migrants Generate Business worth $172 million

November 2013

The 2013 edition of the Productive Remittances program in Guatemala generated business worth $50 million plus another $122 million in future deals.

According to Siegfried Lee, Vice Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the activity was successful. In the first edition of the event, which took place last year, there were only $6 million in business deals.

Taking part in the business roundtables were 74 Guatemalan businessmen living in the U.S. and 200 local companies.

Sergio de la Torre, the Minister of Economy, said during the activity there were 1500 business meetings, and that the food sector was the biggest beneficiary.
