The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare has announced that it is in the process of reviewing compliance with labor and social security laws, which is granted by the Labor Code. The content of that communication follows.
THE MINISTRY OF LABOR AND SOCIAL PROTECTION To workers, employers and the general public, INFORMS:
1. That the reforms to the Labor Code, established in Decree 7-2017 of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala, contain a procedure to be followed by the General Labor Inspectorate, through the Labor Inspectors and Departmental Delegates, to verify compliance of labor and social security laws, as well as the imposition of fines, for infractions committed for non-compliance; 2. In compliance with this reform, the Departmental Delegates of the General Labor Inspectorate will proceed to notify within the corresponding deadlines all those individuals or legal entities of the resolutions that impose a sanction for defaults to the Labor and Social Welfare Laws; 3. Once this resolution has been notified, the offender will have five days to make the corresponding payment in favor of the General Labor Inspectorate of this ministry, through the agencies of the Rural Development Bank, Sociedad Anónima -BANRURAL-; 4.Inspectors carry in a visible way an identification card that identifies them with their photograph, DPI number and institutional logo, identity that can be verified on the website www.mintrabajo.gob.gt in the section with the updated information of each of the people who carry out the inspections at the national level. 5. The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare urges individuals or legal entities, and the population in general, to promote a CULTURE OF COMPLIANCE with the Labor and Social Welfare Laws, within the framework of decent work.
