Guatemala: Road Renovation Tenders Announced

This year the government plans to allocate $110 million to tenders for works on renovations, cleaning and improvement of roads in different parts of the country.

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

The plan put forward by the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) is to invest $110 million in the renovation of 10,100 kilometers of roads throughout the country, including street patching, terracing and cleaning.

Minister Aldo Garcia told that "... with these tenders we hope to reduce costs compared to projects signed under the previous government as part of the "quality of spending" promoted by the government of President Jimmy Morales. This plan will begin in the municipality of Barberena, Santa Rosa department, in the southeast, and in entrances to departments and communities in rural areas."

"... At the moment the Communications department is in the process of liquidating three major contracts, 125-88, 127-88 and 96-2001, from which other roads agreement will be made together with the Comptroller General of Accounts in a period of less than four months. "
