Guatemala: Remittances on the Rise at the Beginning of 2018

During the first month of 2018, remittances received from abroad totaled $635 million, 8% more than the total received in 2016.

n dir="ltr">According to figures from the Banco de Guatemala, in January 2018 the country received $635 million in remittances, an amount that exceeds by 8% the $588 million registered in the same month in 2016.

The entry of remittances registered in the months of January of the last 13 years, has practically tripled, because in the first month of 2005 an amount of $209 million was reported and last month the figure reached $635 million.

The $635 million received in January of this year, was below the average monthly income of remittances received during 2017, when the flow reached an average of $683 million.

August 2019

During the first seven months of 2019, family remittances to Guatemala totaled $5.875 million, 13% more than in the same period in 2018.

According to the most recent figures from the Bank of Guatemala, in July 2019 the country received $948 million in remittances, 16% more than the $818 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

In the first two months of 2019, income from family remittances in the country totaled $1.379 million, 9% more than in the same period last year.

The most recent data from the Bank of Guatemala show that in February 2019 the country received $690 million in remittances, 10% more than the $630 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

Remittances in Guatemala: Record figure in 2018

January 2019

Last year, the flow of family remittances registered by the country reached the highest annual amount, with $9.288 million, 13% more than in 2017.

The most recent figures from the Bank of Guatemala show that in December 2018 the country received $843 million in remittances, 17% more than the $720 million recorded in the same month in 2017.

July 2018

In the first six months of 2018, remittances totaled $4.399 billion, 9% more than the total received in the same period in 2017.

The latest figures from the Banco de Guatemala show that in June 2018 the country received $801 million in the form of remittances, an amount that exceeds by 11% the $724 million registered in the same month in 2017.
