Guatemala: Remittances Up 9%

In the first half of the year Guatemalans living abroad sent $2.703 billion, 9% more than in the same period in 2013.

Net remittances from January to June were up from the $2.478 million which the country received in the same period in 2013, despite an increase in the number of deportations of undocumented Central Americans.

Eleconomista.net reports that "... according to the Directorate General of Immigration, in the first half of 2014 the U.S. authorities deported 28,021 immigrants from this Central American country, ie a 11.34 percent more returnees than in the same period in 2013, when the figure was 25,167.Last year immigrants sent to Guatemala a record $5.105 billion. U.S. Deportations also reached a record 50,221, up from 40,647 in 2012."

Honduras: Remittances Increase 11% up to June 2019

In the first six months of this year, the country received $2.685 million in family remittances, an amount 11% higher than that reported in the same period in 2018.

Figures from the Central Bank of Honduras show that between January and June 2018 and the same period this year the flow of family remittances grew by $266 million, from $2.419 million to $2.685 million.

Guatemala: Non Stop Growth in Remittances

Between January and November, the flow of remittances that came into the country amounted to $7.472 billion, registering an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2016.

Figures from the Banco de Guatemala detail in November of last year alone the country received $600 million in remittances, while in the same month of this year the figure rose to $646 million. 

Guatemala: Remittances Up 19%

In the first half of 2016 the country received $3.512 billion in remittances, almost 20% more than in the same period in 2015.

The figure achieved in the first six months of the year contrasts with the same period in 2015, when Guatemalans living abroad sent $2,955 million back to their country.

Guatemala: $5.1 billion in Remittances in 2013

January 2014

Remittances sent from Guatemalans living abroad are equivalent to half of export revenues and constitute 10% of Gross Domestic Product.

Elperiodico.com.gt reports that "The Bank of Guatemala issued a report on its website which details that Guatemalans abroad sent $5.105 billion in 2013, higher than the $4.782 billion in 2012.
