Guatemala: Remittances Increased 9% up to March 2019

In the first three months of 2019, income from family remittances in the country totaled $2,205 million, 9% more than in the same period last year.

The latest figures from the Bank of Guatemala show that in March 2019 the country received $826 million in remittances, 10% more than the $754 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

Between the first quarter of 2012 and the same period of 2019, remittance income has practically doubled, as figures rose from $1,058 million in 2012 to $2,205 million in 2019.

The 9% increase registered from January to March of this year with respect to the same period of 2018, represents an acceleration in the growth of the flow of remittances, since for the first three months of 2018 a growth of 4% was reported.

Income for the third month of this year totaled $826 million, an amount that exceeded the average value of remittances received during the months of March of the last five years, since the flow reaches an average of $626 million.

During the first seven months of 2019, family remittances to Guatemala totaled $5.875 million, 13% more than in the same period in 2018.

According to the most recent figures from the Bank of Guatemala, in July 2019 the country received $948 million in remittances, 16% more than the $818 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

Remittances in Guatemala: Growth Accelerates

During the first four months of 2019, family remittances totaled $3.070 million, 10% more than the same period last year, growth that is higher than the 8% reported from January to April 2018.

The latest figures from the Bank of Guatemala show that in April 2019 the country received $865 million in remittances, 12% more than the $770 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

In the first two months of 2019, income from family remittances in the country totaled $1.379 million, 9% more than in the same period last year.

The most recent data from the Bank of Guatemala show that in February 2019 the country received $690 million in remittances, 10% more than the $630 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

July 2018

In the first six months of 2018, remittances totaled $4.399 billion, 9% more than the total received in the same period in 2017.

The latest figures from the Banco de Guatemala show that in June 2018 the country received $801 million in the form of remittances, an amount that exceeds by 11% the $724 million registered in the same month in 2017.
