Guatemala: Remittances Increase by 19%

During the first two months of 2020, family remittances sent to the country amounted to Ch$1,643 million, 19% more than reported for the same period in 2019.

Official figures from the Bank of Guatemala detail that in February 2020 the country received remittances of $808 million, an amount that exceeds by 17% the $690 million registered in the same month of 2019.

Between the first two months of 2015 and the same period in 2020, remittance income has practically doubled, rising from $839 million in 2015 to $1,643 million in 2020.

Income for February this year totaled $808 million, an amount that exceeded the average value of remittances received during the months of February of the last five years, since the flow reaches an average of $585 million.

From January to November 2019, family remittances sent to Guatemala totaled $9,567 million, 13% more than what was reported in the same period in 2018.

According to the most recent figures from the Bank of Guatemala, in November 2019 the country received $819 million in remittances, 8% more than the $757 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

Remittances Increase 13% up to July 2019

During the first seven months of 2019, family remittances to Guatemala totaled $5.875 million, 13% more than in the same period in 2018.

According to the most recent figures from the Bank of Guatemala, in July 2019 the country received $948 million in remittances, 16% more than the $818 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

March 2019

In the first two months of 2019, income from family remittances in the country totaled $1.379 million, 9% more than in the same period last year.

The most recent data from the Bank of Guatemala show that in February 2019 the country received $690 million in remittances, 10% more than the $630 million recorded in the same month in 2018.

July 2018

In the first six months of 2018, remittances totaled $4.399 billion, 9% more than the total received in the same period in 2017.

The latest figures from the Banco de Guatemala show that in June 2018 the country received $801 million in the form of remittances, an amount that exceeds by 11% the $724 million registered in the same month in 2017.
