Guatemala: Remittances Fall

Despite a 15% increase over January 2010, foreign wires still have not reached the $ 290.2 million of 2009.

Nicaragua: Remittances Up 9%

Between January and July, Nicaraguans living abroad sent $509 million to the country, which is 9% more than in the same period in 2010.

Remittances to Guatemala Increase by 8.5%

In August, total remittances received amounted to $409.5 million, 8.5% higher than in the same month in 2010.

In July remittances reported a decline of 9% compared to the same month in 2010.

According to the Bank of Guatemala, between January and August the total amount of remittances coming into the country was $2.934 million, 6.7% higher than the $2.748 million in the same period of 2010.

Remittances to Guatemala increase by 8.7%

May 2011

In the first quarter of the year, remittance income increased by 8.7%, $108.4 million, compared to the same period in 2010.

According to the Bank of Guatemala, in April alone, $371.2 million entered the country, an increase of 7.8% compared to $344.4 million in the same period in 2010.

Remittances to El Salvador Total $2.1 Billion to July

August 2010

Remittances received between January and July this year recorded a 2.5% increase year-on-year relative to the same period in 2009.

According to information from El Salvador's central bank (BCR), in the month of July alone $6.7 million more was remitted than in the same month of 2009.
