From a statement issued by the Tax Authority of Guatemala (SAT):

Requirements and steps to be taken for importer registration:

REQUIREMENTS:
* Possess Tax Identification Number (NIT by its initials in Spanish)
* Have at least one business which is affiliated with tax payments
* Commercial Patent must specify what kind of items are imported
* INTERNET access (not essential, importers may go to agencies or the Tax Offices of the SAT)
* BancaSAT adhesion contract with a bank in the system

Concern in Panama Over Requirement to Import Raw Material

A proposal put forward by the Aupsa would require all companies that import raw materials, ingredients and food for manufacturing, processing or commercial repackaging, to register with the institution from 2017.

The Union of Industrialists in Panama (SIP) warned of the risk that it believes is represented by the draft proposal by the Panamanian Food Authority (Aupsa), which wants to be responsible for the registration of people who import into the country food or raw materials used for the manufacture or processing of products intended for human or animal consumption.

Panama: Food Registration Unified

The new platform combines the previous two, the one used for the United States and in other countries, combining them into one platform.

The Food Registration Department under the National Standards for Food Import (DINAN) of the Panamanian Food Safety Authority (AUPSA), informs users and the general public that a platform has now been enabled for food registration processes. The new platform combines the previous two, that is the one used for the United States and other countries, making a single platform.

Panama: More Time to Register Imported Food

August 2015

An extension until August 28 has been given to the deadline for importers to update the documentation required by the Panamanian Food Safety Authority.

From a statement issued by the Panamanian Authority for Food Safety:

Panama City / As part of the technological modernization being developed by the Panamanian Food Safety Authority (AUPSA), added to the suspension of the reception of digital applications for Registration of Pre-packaged Foods which started today and continues until next Monday 24 August, the company is extending the deadline for importers to update their documentation required by resolutions No. 031-AG-2015 042-AG-2015.
