Guatemala: New Website for Exporters

The 'Ventanilla Única para las Exportaciones' or VUPE and the Regímenes de Perfeccionamiento Activo or OPA, have launched a new unified website.

From a press release by the Guatemalan Association of Exports (AGEXPORT):

In order to offer exporters and the general public ease in obtaining information relating to the export sector, the Ventanilla Única para las Exportaciones -VUPE- and the Oficina de Regímenes de Perfeccionamiento Activo -OPA-have launched a new unified website which provides the following features:

- Renewed and attractive image.

- Easy navigation and obtaining information.

- Compatible with mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets.

- Easy access to SEADEX WEB.

- Section for news and important announcements.

- Gives visitors the option to make comments related to news and other publications.

The website is available from June 1, 2013, the official launch will be on June 5.

The page is available at http://vupe.export.com
The new site has is backwards compatible for entry by the old applications and VUPE OPA websites, in case exporters need to enter them to make a request or inquiry of information located in the former websites.

A single processing desk will be opened for foreign trade in order to speed up control formalities for land carriers.

The Executive Directorate of Revenue (DEI), with the support of the Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Honduras and the technical support of International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank (WB), will start running a Single Foreign Trade Desk (known as VUCEH by its initials in Spanish), to streamline controls for land carriers, reducing costs and contributing to trade facilitation.

One Stop Shop for Exports in Panama

The new system aims to keep information both about Customs and its related institutions, facilitating the export process.

Panama joins the "RED INTERAMERICANA DE INTEGRACIÓN DE VENTANILLAS ÚNICAS" (INTERAMERICAN NETWORK OF INTEGRATION OF SINGLE SERVICE WINDOWS", whose aims is to review the most appropriate mechanisms for the integration of processes and information requirements and encourage all member countries to exchange information on goods movement without paperwork or using only minimal amounts of paper.

One Stop Shop for Imports

Representatives of public and private sectors in Guatemala are demanding the creation of a single process for import procedures, similar to that for exports.

Siglo21.com.gt notes that since in the country the “Ventanilla Unica” (single counter), also known as (VUPE) only works for exports, the director of Exporter Services, of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport), Fernando Herrera, said there is a need to "create an Import Counter".
