Guatemala: Marlin Gold Mine May Be Sold

The sale of the mine is part of a marketing plan for some of the assets owned by the Canadian concessionaire Goldcorp.

Monday, August 1, 2016

In addition to the operations of the Marlin mine, Goldcorp has put on sale its gold and silver mine Los Filos in Mexico, and also is studying alternatives to offload the Alumbrera mine in Argentina.

David Garofalo, executive director of the company, told Elperiodico.com.gt that "... in Marlin there is the opportunity of a major exploration, which could attract a small mining explorer".

"... Garofalo would not speculate on the sale value of any of the assets, but said Goldcorp would be willing to receive payments with some of the shares of the acquirer, as happened in 2010 when it sold its silver deposit Escobal to Tahoe Resources Inc. "
