“Presentation of results of the 49th. Business Association Survey Research and Social Studies (ASIES) to April 2011.

Every three months, the ASIES survey team contacts Guatemalan companies that advertise in the phone book by telephone. In this way they try to find out what the perceptions of micro, small, medium and large businesses are regarding the development of their productive activity.

This report shows the results of the 49th. Business Survey, for which 611 businesses from various branches of economic activity were consulted.

The behavior of production and employment shows that economic growth has not been strengthened.

Evolutionary analysis of the level of production, one of the main variables of analysis, determined that economic growth has not been sufficiently strengthened, which seems consistent with the prevailing doubts about the economic recovery worldwide. In April 2011, the number of companies who decreased their production is still greater than the number of companies who increased their production compared to the same month in 2010.”
