Guatemala: Inflation Slows Down

In October, the year-on-year inflation was of 4.3%, however, in November the inflationary rhythm was reduced to 3.2%, behavior explained by the performance of transportation prices.

The most important inflation levels in November 2018 are the following: monthly inflation of -0.29%, inflationary rhythm of 3.15% and accumulated inflation of 2.18%, informed the National Statistics Institute.

From the twelve expenditure divisions integrating the CPI, the one of transportation (-2.35%), food (-0.45%), reflect the behavior in the price level of inflation up to November 2018. On the other hand, communications (0.41%), housing (0.38%), recreation (0.34%), are the divisions that present greater positive variation in their price level.

According to the document, the inflationary rhythm up to November 2018 (3.15%), is the third lowest of those observed in the months of November of the 2011-2017 period, and is 1.00 below the average (4.15) of such period. The highest inflationary rhythm in the analysis period occurred in 2011 which was 6.06%.

Guatemala: Inflation Decelerated in 2018

January 2019

Up to December of last year, the year-on-year variation of the Consumer Price Index was 2.3%, an inflationary rhythm lower than the 5.7% recorded at the end of 2017.

The most important inflation levels for December 2018 are as follows: 0.13% monthly inflation, 2.31% inflationary rhythm and 2.31% cumulative inflation.

Inflation in Guatemala is accelerating

After the Consumer Price Index reported interannual variations of 2.6% and 3.3% in July and August, in September the inflationary rhythm increased to 4.6%.

The most important inflation levels in September 2018 are the following: monthly inflation of 0.60%, inflation rate of 4.55% and accumulated inflation of 2.13%.

August 2018

Following the country's inflationary rhythm oscillating between 3.8% and 4.7% in the first six months of the year, in June the price indicator registered a variation of 2.6%.

From a report by the National Institute of Statistics:

The most important inflation levels in July 2018 are the following: monthly inflation of 0.36%, inflation rate of 2.61% and cumulative inflation of 1.08%. 

Guatemala: 4% YoY Inflation up to May 2018

June 2018

In the fifth month of the year, the CPI registered a monthly variation of 0.47%, mainly explained by the behavior of the prices of Transportation and Food.

The most important inflation levels of May 2018 are the following: a monthly inflation of 0.47%, an inflationary rhythm of 4.09% and an accumulated inflation of 0.15% were registered.
