Guatemala: Five Companies Pre-qualified for Roadworks

Five consortia formed by companies from Guatemala, the Netherlands, Peru, Italy and Mexico were prequalified to participate in the project for the construction and operation of the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal highway.

The companies shortlisted in the tender for the rehabilitation, management, operation, maintenance and additional works on the Escuintla-Puerto Quetza highway are:

Consorcio Autopistas de Guatemala (Guatemala-Mexico)
Mota-Engil Latin América B.V (Netherlands)
JJC Contratistas Generales S.A (Peru) 
ANAS International Enterprise S. P. A (Italy) 
COCONAL S.A.P.I de C.V and Operadora Autopistas S.A de C.V (Mexico). 

Supercemento S.A.I.C (Argentina); CONCAY S.A (Colombia); Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos, SAU (Sucursal Guatemala -Spain); Shikun & Binui LTD (Israel) and Cointer Concessions, SL (Spain), were eliminated from the process.

03/15/2016 Guatemala. Regarding the Prequalification Process of National and International Bidders in the Project for Partnerships for Economic Infrastructure Development: "Rehabilitation Administration, Operation Maintenance and Complementary Works on the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal Highway with tolling", it is reported that on Monday March 13, 2017, the evaluation Commission appointed for the purpose, completed the evaluation stage of the 10 expressions of interest from companies or groups of companies on January 18, 2017 at the premises of the Directorate General of Roads at the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing.

Construction and Management of Highway Awarded

July 2018

In Guatemala, the Consortium Autopistas de Guatemala was awarded a contract for the renovation and management of the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal highway, with toll collection.

In this concession for the administration of the highway, the companies which had been pre-qualified and which submitted their proposals were Consorcio Autopistas de Guatemala, Mota-Engil Latin America and Anas International Enterprise.

Road Tender in Guatemala Postponed Once Again

For the second time the deadline for receipt of offers has been postponed in the tender for the renovation and administration of the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal highway, this time until May 3.

The National Council of Partnerships for the Development of Economic Infrastructure reported that on March 13 it decided to postpone the date for receiving technical and economic offers from the pre-qualified companies for the project "Renovation, Administration, Operation, Maintenance and Complementary Works on the Escuintla - Puerto Quetzal Highway with Toll Collection", which is in the international public tender phase.

Progress in the Escuintla- Puerto Quetzal Tender

September 2017

The tender act for the construction and operation of the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal highway, in Guatemala, could take between October and December, and there are already five prequalified builders.

The National Agency for Alliances for Development (Anadie) has announced that they are in the process of revising the draft of the project, and that the tender could be launched at the end of the year, between October and December.
