Guatemala: Delays in Electrical Transmission Works

Construction of 850 kilometers of lines interconnecting lines should have been finished by August, but now the project will take two additional years.

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

According to Sandra Fonseca, president of Trecsa, the firm responsible for the project, several drawbacks have meant changing the delivery date to September 2015.

"This is an expansion project of transmission lines covering 74 municipalities. We already have three substations progress," said Fonseca.

"We received 81% of the electricity coverage in the country and we are now at 86%, but we hope that by the end of this presidential term we will be at 90%," said Minister of Energy and Mines, Erick Archila.
