After Puma Energy and Chevron requested that the tender for the concession for the construction and operation of a jet fuel terminal be repeated, the General Department of Civil Aviation (Spanish initials: DGCA) decided to cancel the contract with Terminales del Atlántico.

Elperiodico.com.gt reports that "... The award of the contract was accused of being given in a direct manner, because the technical requirements in the tender conditions could only be complied with by Terminales del Atlántico. The oil companies denounced the favoritism shown to the winning company and demanded solutions from President Otto Perez Molina and the Auditor of Aeronautics, Jair Samayoa, but got no response. "

"... A few weeks ago, the comptroller said that the contract was beneficial for the country. However, last Tuesday the private sector demanded the President terminate several contracts, among them the one for the fuel terminal. "
