Guatemala Awards Construction Works for $ 26 Million

The five projects awarded are for road reconstruction in the Atlantic coastline area.

The reconstruction of segments Sanarate-Agua Caliente, San Antonio Paz-El Progreso, was awarded to Overseas Engineering and Construction Co. Ltda., SA.

The reconstruction of the access driveway to Morales, Izabal was awarded to William Estuardo Radford Hernández.

"The repair of the northern segment Cueva del Negro, Guastatoya, El Progreso (NOG 1,494,023) was awarded to Solera, Engineering and Architecture for $ 2.34 million. The project was posted on the “Guatecompras.com” system at 14:31 hours, the offer was presented at 15:00 and ended at 15:30," adds Elperiodico.com.gt.

Construction companies had complained when these works were awarded to a single company for $237 million. As a result, the National Roads Council (Covial), decided to award 17 to company “Hernán Solís”, three to “Constructora MECO”, one to “Orosi Siglo XXI” and one to “Quebradores del Sur”.
