Guatemala: $95 million for Educational Infrastructure

The government plans to start renovation works on 160 schools nationwide in 2018.

Officials of the Executive announced that the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV), will be responsible for renovating 160 schools in different areas of the country. For these works, the CIV plans to invest around $95 million over a period of 4 years.

Dca.gob.gt details that the works include "... expansion of a diversified institute in Malacatán, San Marcos, and the building of another one in San Andrés, Petén, to be carried out by the State Building Construction Unit."

The head of the CIV, Aldo García, indicated that "... we are working in agreement with the Education department, which is also carrying out minor repairs in educational centers, since the purpose is to provide comfort to the more than 3 million students who will start their classes next Monday."

Construction: $220 Million for Educational Centers

From January to June 2019, 52 environmental impact studies were presented in Central America to build new education centers and carry out expansion and remodeling work in other institutions.

Tender of Educational Infrastructure for $19 million

The Ministry of Education in Panama is putting out to tender a study, design and construction work to expand and renovate the Professional and Technical Institute of Chilibre.

Panama Government Purchase 2018-0-07-0-08-LV-034801: 

"The work covered by these specifications includes the execution and total completion of each detail of the work object of the contract, including its studies, its designs and supply of all materials, equipment, transportation, labor and everything else that may be necessary and unforeseen, as well as the final cleaning of the project site, payment of all obligations and replacement of work and defective materials, all in accordance with the plans, these specifications and other contractual documents.

Panama: $92 million for Educational Infrastructure

April 2018

This year the Ministry of Education plans to allocate $92.5 million for the construction, renovation and maintenance of schools in different areas of the country.

Authorities at the Ministry of Education (Meduca) explained that out of the $92.5 million, almost $76 million will go towards building and renovating schools nationwide, and another $17 million will be allocated to maintenance work.

$34 million for Educational Infrastructure Announced

March 2018

The Guatemalan government has announced the investment of $34 million in improvement works on 15 educational centers and the construction of six, in different areas of the country.

Authorities at the Ministry of Education presented the V Rural Education Program, which will be developed in 21 municipalities in six departments. According to government representatives, the works are expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
