Guatemala: $26 million for Road Works

Following the disasters caused by the eruptions of the Fuego Volcano in Guatemala, $26 million has been granted to five companies to reconstruct the affected road stretches.

Due to the state of Calamity decreed after the natural disaster, the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) awarded emergency contracts to five companies that will be in charge of repairing the affected sections of National Route 14.

The five companies awarded with the seven contracts were:
- Supervisión, Construcción y Mantenimiento, S.A. who will improve the road, protection works, fluvial defense and containment in the Guacalate River channel, for $5.1 millionIn addition it will replace Las Lajas vehicular bridge for $4.9 million.
- Concretos y Dragados, S.A. will be responsible for the improvement of the road, protection works, fluvial defense and containment in the channel of the Las Lajas stream for $3.2 million. In addition it will replace the Chile Triste vehicular bridge, for $5.1 million.
- Constructora IMESA, S.A. will repair kilometers 92.1 + to 96, for $2.7 million.
- V & T, SA will build the road distributor for Cuidad Vieja and Alotenango and the San Diego Mill for $1.8 million.  
- Tracser, S.A. will be responsible for the construction of La Fe bridge, for $2.8 million.

Regarding the current situation of the road, reports that " ...At the moment the communications authorities are about to finish the stage of rehabilitation of the section, which means that the road can be traveled on, but it is not yet available to the public. The formal construction of the route still needs to be done."

$31 million Reconstruction Works Announced

June 2018

Following the disasters caused by the Fuego Volcano in Guatemala, authorities stated that they will be investing $31 million to recover a 17-kilometer stretch of road.

Representatives from the Ministry of Communications, said that the works to renovate the highway section of the RN14 route, will have an approximate duration of 18 months.

Following the government's termination of the contractual relationship with Brazil's Odebrecht, contracts for work on the three sections of the CA-2 highway have been awarded.

For the contract to "Reposition Road CA-02, section: km 211 + 500 to km 250 + 500", the companies Construcciones Integrales Avanzadas S.A.

Panama: $88 Million Road Works Awarded

February 2018

A contract has been awarded to Constructora MECO for the design, construction and maintenance of works for the renovation of the Transístmica highway, section Plaza Agora - San Isidro Station.

The companies that took part in the tender for the renovation of a stretch of approximately 10 kilometers were Constructora MECO, Sacyr Construcción, Constructora Urbana and Conalvias Construcciones, with offers of $88 million, $86 million, $87 million and $90 million, respectively.

Awards: Road Infrastructure for $51 million

March 2016

Renovations and road construction in the provinces of Panama and Chiriqui are the subject of some of the contracts awarded in Panama in January 2016.
