Grupo Roble Plans Expansion in South America

The real estate developer is planning to invest in Colombia and Peru.

Friday, July 1, 2011

Alberto Poma, the General Manager of the Group referred to the rapid growth of these economies as the main attraction for investment.

" Grupo Roble already has an office building in Colombia, called the Bogotá Corporate Center, while in the hotel sector, our sister group, Grupo Real has invested in the construction of a JW Marriot, again, in the capital. However, other upcoming projects will be of a commercial nature.

'In order to attract foreign investment it is very important to have clear regulations. We feel that these exist there (in Colombia and Peru). At the same time they are irreversible democracies, " stressed Poma.

Unlike these countries, El Salvador is being dragged under by an unfavorable investment climate, according to data from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and is ranked one of the lowest in the World Economic Forum’s Doing Business indicator.

Despite this picture Poma said, without hesitation, that the company he runs is optimistic. 'We always have been, " he added. 'We love El Salvador, and we trust in it and so will keep investing in it, "he said.

The evidence is in sight. This year Grupo Roble has started work on remodeling the Metrocenter mall and also plans to do the same to the Santa Ana Metrocentro in addition to the above, Poma said he was excited about some changes that will occur in Multiplaza.
