Organic food consumption has become a growing trend in Panama.

Organic products are obtained from sustainable production systems, rational use of natural resources and non-use of synthetic chemical products among other things.
"Supermarket chains, restaurants, specialty shops and farmers have been amazed by this trend of eating healthy foods and those grown using environmentally friendly practices", reported Prensa.com.
More and more of these products are being offered and is increasingly common sight in supermarkets to see specific areas dedicated to the sale of these kinds of things. .
There are more than 12 restaurants including organic products on their menu’s currently operating in Panama City.
"The consumption of organic food is no longer almost exclusively by foreigners, now young professionals from 23 and older prefer to watch what they eat so as to safeguard their health, says Jesus Armenteros, owner of Biogranjas, which makes chicken, pork, eggs and organic vegetables. "
