Green Light for Tender of Logistics Area in Tocumen

Following the halting of the bidding process to build Phase I of the Free Zone in May, the General Directorate of Public Procurement has decided to lift the suspension.

On May 18, a claim filed by Transeq-Estrella was published, arguing that in the bidding process there were "distinct inconsistencies, omissions and procedural flaws that must be reviewed."

However, on June 4, the ruling of the General Directorate of Public Procurement was published, ordering the "lifting of the suspension of the public act", so that the adjudication process could continue.

Toronto Global Holdings Corp, Levantina Ingeniería y Construcción, Ingeniería PC S.A., Mota-Engil Engenharia E Construcao S.A. and Transeq S.A. participated in the tender process, with offers of $14.1 million, $14.1 million, $14.1 million, $13.9 million, and $13.5 million, respectively. 

According to the tender documents, Mota-Engil Engenharia E Construcao S.A. was the participant that obtained the highest rating, scoring a final weighting of 91.42.

Free Zone is Being Prepared

The company responsible for building the logistics zone, that will operate under the free zone regime at Tocumen airport, expects to start in November.

The Mota-Engil Consortium, winner of the tender, has planned to begin in early November the work of land leveling, construction of access roads and installation of public services, for the development of about 20 logistics warehouses.

Metro Line 3 Tender is Advancing

The process of approval of the tender for the design and construction of Line 3 of the Panama Metro began with a meeting between the seven pre-qualified groups and a visit to the site.

October 10, 2018. A visit to the site, where the works for Metro Line 3 will be developed, began the process of Tender for Best Value with Separate Evaluation with the 7 pre-qualified companies, to build this megaproject, which will be benefiting a large population of the West Panama region.

Offers to Build a Free Zone in Tocumen

May 2018

Between $ 13.5 million and $ 14.1 million is the range of the five proposals for the first phase of construction of a 35 hectare free zone in the grounds of Tocumen International Airport.

Five companies submitted their technical and economic proposals:
