Global Summit on Sugar in Guatemala

From June 21st to 28th, 2015, Antigua will be hosting the Council of the International Sugar Organization.

During the last council held in London, the city of Antigua, Guatemala, was designated as the next site to receive the XLVII Council of the International Sugar Organization.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala:

The Chairman of the International Sugar Organization, Carlos Raúl Morales said in a speech that "... Guatemala will host the forty-seventh Council to be held in the city of Antigua Guatemala,from June 21 to 28, 2015, sessions to which are added the efforts of the host country to arrive, in parallel, to that which we hope will be the first global summit in the world of sugar, Guatemala 2015: World Sugar Summit, open to everyone, this is what we hope, aspects that contribute to economic, social and environmental success of the Sugar Industry in Guatemala and to its increasingly more firm commitment in the region. "

Sugar Industry Regional Meeting

August 2017

From August 22 to 25, companies from the sector will be gathering together in San Pedro Sula to participate in business roundtables and discuss topics relevant to the sector.

The Congress of Sugar Technicians of Central America will be held at the Copantl Hotel Convention Center in San Pedro Sula. Business roundtables will be held and international experts will be giving talks on topics of interest to the sector, such as the effect of climate change on sugar production, use of technology, production costs, among other things.

El Salvador: Less Sugar Exports Projected

Sugarcane growers estimate that exports from the 2013/2014 crop will be reduced by 10% due to the negative effects of climate and oversupply in the global market.

Coffee Summit Ready to Go

The III World Coffee Conference will start tomorrow in Antigua, Guatemala, with the participation of foreign leaders.

Ricardo Villanueva, president of coffee association Anacafé, explained that 33 companies and entities will showcase their goods and services in the exhibition area.
