Guatemalan Companies, Main Buyers
From January to September 2018, the main importer in Central America was Guatemala, with $50 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $47 million, Panama, with $42 million, El Salvador, with $35 million, Honduras, with $31 million and Nicaragua, with $15 million.

Main suppliers
In the first nine months of 2018, 28% of the value imported from Central America was from China, 14% from the U.S., 11% from Mexico and 4% from Colombia.

The Asian country is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most during the period from January to September of recent years, since in 2012 represented 17% of the total value imported by the region and in 2018 reached 28%.

Variation in regional business
Between the first nine months of 2017 and the same period of 2018, the volume imported of glass and its manufactures registered a 10% decrease, falling from 280 thousand tons to 252 thousand tons.

On the other hand, for the periods concerned the imported value registered a 1% decrease, from $226 million in 2017 to $224 million in 2018.

During the first half of the year, imports of glass and glass products in Central America reached $155 million, an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2017.
