Glass Bottles: $100 Million for New Factory

In the Dominican Republic, the companies Caribbean Glass Industry and Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana will build a production plant that will have the capacity to manufacture 500 million glass bottles per year.

Thursday, November 12, 2020

The new production plant will be located in the municipality of Pedro Brand, which belongs to the province of Santo Domingo. According to the investors, the factory is expected to begin its operational phase in February 2021.

Because the plant's production capacity is higher than the domestic demand, the plans are to turn the Caribbean country into an exporter of glass bottles.

Opportunities in Glass Recycling

October 2012

Nicaragua does not recycle its discarded glass, and the little that is collected is exported to three recycling plants in other Central American countries.

Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports that "If there was a glass processing plant in Nicaragua, without a doubt the number of collectors would multiply and their income would improve, but for now the amount of material collected for selling at the three factories operating in Central America, is only 2.457 metric tons per year, the lowest of all countries on the isthmus.
