German Investment in Panama Announced

President Martinelli has announced that Herrenknecht AG will manufacture boring machines in Panama for export to American countries.

A press release by the Presidency of Panama reads:

“After his return to Panama from Germany, where he received the two boring machines which are to be used for the construction of the Panama Metro, the president, Ricardo Martinelli, announced that the company Herrenknecht AG-Germanic, manufacturer of this type of machinery, will expand its operations Panama.

This information was presented by President Martinelli as one of the achievements after his recent trip to Germany and the Republic of Italy.

The President said that Herrenknecht AG will assemble the machines in Panama that will then be exported to countries in Latin America and the United States.

With the opening of the German company the president said that jobs for more than 200 Panamanians will be created.

The president also expressed his satisfaction that the construction of the Panama Metro, one of his flagship works, is moving at a brisk pace, and will be completed in late 2013.”
