A geographical indication is a category used for products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation due to that place of origin. Generally, a geographical indication consists of the name of the place of origin of products.

"This is one of the commitments that the country made with the European Union when it signed the partnership agreement with the rest of Central America", reported Laprensagrafica.com.

The new legislation will be presented to the Legislative Assembly and the government is committed to bringing the reform into force before the partnership agreement with Europe comes into effect.
