MINEC announces new variations on the reference prices for gasoline and diesel

The Ministry of Finance announced on March 3, new variations on the reference prices for fuel, which will be in effect from 4 to 17 March 2014.

During February 2014, the price of WTI (West Texas Intermediate) in the Gulf Coast of the United States averaged a value of $94.73 per barrel, showing an increase of +2.98% compared to the previous month. For its part, the international prices of petroleum products showed the following changes in the last few weeks: +3.50% in the price of premium gasoline, +2.90% in the price of regular gasoline and +0.71% in the price of diesel.

Changes in international prices have been influenced by an increased demand for crude oil and liquid fuels, caused in recent weeks by the winter season in the northern hemisphere countries, especially in the United States, as well as higher expectations of the world economy.

New variations of the reference prices for fuels nationwide, are as follows: special gasoline + $ 0.09 increase in the three areas of the country, regular gasoline + $ 0.07 increase in all areas and an increase in diesel of + $ 0.02 nationwide.

In Central America, El Salvador ranks first in having the lowest prices on regular gasoline, and in second place for the lowest price of special gasoline and diesel.
