Gas Prices in Central America

In Central America, El Salvador has the lowest prices for regular gasoline and ranks second in the prices of special gas and diesel.

From a press release issued by the Ministry of Economy in El Salvador:

In Central America, El Salvador is positioned on top for having the lowest prices on regular gasoline, and in second place for the lowest prices on special gasoline and diesel.

Price of a gallon of regular gasoline: Costa Rica $3.85, Honduras $3.54, Nicaragua $3.49, Guatemala $2.98, El Salvador $2.94 and Panama $2.59.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador:

The current reference prices for gasoline and diesel show a slight upward trend due to fluctuations that repeatedly affect or benefit the international market for oil products; As well as a reduction in the production that the United States reported in its weekly report provided by the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), that oil reserves had fallen by approximately 7.5 million barrels, doubling what was anticipated by experts in the hydrocarbons market, in addition to an acceleration in the growth of demand in China. Price per gallon of Super gasoline , highest to lowest: $5.54 Costa Rica, Nicaragua $5.07, $4.71 Honduras, El Salvador: $4.34, $4.33 and Panama Guatemala $4.22.

A report has been released detailing the average consumer prices for Gasoline and Diesel in Central America, effective in the week 12 to May 18, 2013, based on official prices and monitoring or surveys carried out by the various DGs of Hydrocarbons or equivalent in the capital of each Central American country.

Fuel prices up to February 15, 2013

Costa Rica remains the country with the highest prices of automotive fuels in the region.

In Central America, El Salvador is positioned top of the list for having the lowest prices on regular gasoline, and second for the lowest priced special gasoline and diesel.

Regional fuel prices above $4.40 per gallon

August 2008

The Salvadoran Petroleum Industry Association and the Ministry of the Economy published a comparative analysis of the region on August 15.

For unregulated markets, the price per gallon on that date was: El Salvador, $4.44 for regular gasoline; Nicaragua, $4.72; and Guatemala, $4.71.
