From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador:

The Ministry of Economy announced on May 23, that the reference prices for fuels, in force from May 24 to June 6, 2016, will go up.

The rise in oil prices and principally its derivatives in recent weeks has caused prices of liquid fuels in El Salvador to suffer upward variations, due to the strength of the US economy which supports oil prices as well as problems caused by fires in oil-producing areas in Canada, sabotage and strikes in Nigeria and the severe crisis in Venezuela, which contributed to removing more than 2 million barrels per day from the market in recent weeks, these world events have caused fluctuations in international prices which remain volatile and are therefore causing higher prices nationwide.
