From a press release issued by the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador (Minec):

The Ministry of Finance announced on August 18, new variations in the reference prices for fuel, which will be in effect from 19 August until 1 September 2014.

The new variations of the reference prices for fuel in the country, are as follows: decrease in special gasoline of - $ 0.12 in the three areas of the country; decrease in regular gasoline of - $ 0.07 in the three areas of the country and increase in diesel of + $ 0.01 the central and western areas and no variation in the east.

During the month of August, the price of WTI (West Texas Intermediate) in the Gulf Coast of the United States had an average value of $84.43 per barrel, a decrease of -8.26% from the previous month. In recent weeks, international prices of petroleum products recorded the following changes: -3.66% in the price of a gallon of premium gasoline, -2.33% in the price of regular gasoline and 0.11% in the price of diesel.

The joint behavior of international fuel prices has been influenced by the expectations of a global supply of abundant energy, interrelated with a lower energy demand with greater impact on gasoline.
In Central America, El Salvador is ranked in second place for having the lowest prices of gasoline and diesel:

The Ministry of Finance announced this July 21, new variations on the reference prices for fuel, which will be effective from 22 July to 4 August 2014.
