Exports by country 
In 2017, Costa Rica remained the main exporter of frozen fruits in the region, with $80 million. It is followed by Guatemala, with $30 million, El Salvador, with $3 million and Nicaragua with $2 million. Panama and Honduras did not register exports. 

Variation of regional exports  
Between 2016 and 2017 the export value of frozen fruits grew by 49%, going from $77 million to $115 million. This increase confirms the clear upward trend recorded in sales abroad, since in the last five years average annual growth was 26%.

Destination of exports 
In 2017, 57% of the value exported from Central America went to the USA, 8% to Canada, 6% to Belgium, 5% to the United Kingdom and 4% to the Netherlands.

Canada is the destination market for Central American sales that has grown the most in the last six years, going from 2% of the total in 2012 to 8% in 2017.

Frozen Fruit Sales: Good Numbers for Costa Rica

August 2018

In the first quarter of 2018, the country exported $19 million worth of frozen fruit, registering an increase of 8% with respect to exports in the same period in 2017.

Between January and June 2017, the region exported $57 million worth of frozen fruits, 60% more than in the same period in 2016.
