Footwear: Intention to Buy Online as of October 2020

Between July and October 2020, the number of people in Costa Rica who were exploring options for buying sports shoes online decreased 26%, while the number of Honduran consumers looking to buy dress shoes increased 27%.

CentralAmericaData's interactive platform, Consumer Insights, monitors in real time the changes in consumer habits in all markets in the region and in other Latin American countries, with fundamental information to understand their behavior, new trends and anticipate eventual changes in their purchase patterns.

For this analysis, CentralAmericaData collected data on the number of Central American consumers who in July showed their interest in purchasing sports or clothing shoes via online. In October the same information was collected again and the variations reported in the quarter in question were evaluated.

Detail of some of the most outstanding findings:

Between July and October in Guatemala the number of consumers looking to buy sports shoes increased from 120 thousand to 133 thousand, which is equivalent to a 11% variation. In Panama the increase in the number of people who tried to buy this type of footwear was slight as it varied by 1% and in El Salvador a rise of 80% was reported.

For the months in question the number of Costa Ricans looking to buy dress shoes grew by 44%, in Guatemala a 10% variation was reported and in Panama the number of consumers interested in this type of footwear grew by 64%.

Regarding the boot market, for the months under analysis in Honduras a 152% variation was reported in the number of people looking to buy this type of footwear, in Guatemala the percentage change was 29%, in Panama 131% and in Costa Rica 227%.
