Flights between Costa Rica and Holland Reactivated

In the context of the economic reactivation, the airline KLM announced that as of June 29 they will resume three weekly flights on the usual Amsterdam-San José-Liberia-Amsterdam route.

KLM will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays arriving at the Juan Santamaria International Airport at 1:05 p.m. and departing for Liberia at 2:45 p.m. From Liberia it will leave for Dutch soil at 4:40 p.m., according to a press release from the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT).

Gustavo Segura, Minister of Tourism said that "... we celebrate the return of KLM, they bet on Costa Rica, increase the number of seats for the coming months and promote the arrival of Europeans to the country, whose average stay reaches up to 18 days."

Segura added that "... the arrival from June onwards coincides with the beginning of the European summer, at the same time that more Europeans are expected to be vaccinated against Covid19 and willing to travel internationally to a destination prepared with sanitary protocols such as Costa Rica."

Rafael Mencía, Executive Director of AERIS, said that "... always complying with the sanitary requirements that these times require, these efforts seek to continue attracting traffic to and from cities as relevant as Amsterdam, while strengthening the connection with the Netherlands, which represents the fifth most important attraction market for Costa Rica."

More Flights between Amsterdam and Costa Rica

April 2019

Beginning October 29 of this year, KLM will operate four flights per week between the Dutch city and Liberia, Guanacaste, with a stopover at Juan Santamaría Airport.

The flights will be made in a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with 30 seats in World Business Class, 45 seats in Economy Comfort and 219 seats in Economy Class, the airline said in a statement.

More flights between Panama and Paris

Air France announced that from October 29th, it will increase the number of weekly flights between the capital of France and Panama City from 6 to 7.

The European airline representatives informed that from next November 26th the flight will be operated in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 276 passenger capacities.

Amsterdam - San Jose Flights

November 2017

The airline KLM has inaugurated the first flight between the Dutch city and the Juan Santamaría international airport in Costa Rica.

Throughout the European winter season KLM will fly twice a week to Costa Rica, on Tuesdays and Fridays. On other days, passengers will be able to use the KLM flight to Panama, which connects with San José thanks to codes shared with Copa Airlines. 

New Netherlands - Costa Rica Direct Flight

April 2017

From October 31 KLM will fly twice a week between Amsterdam and San Jose throughout the European winter season.

From a statement issued by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute:

KLM the Royal Netherlands Aviation Company will fly twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) directly to San Jose, Costa Rica (Amsterdam-San Jose-Amsterdam). The operations will start from October 31, 2017, in the European winter season (November to March).
