Few Sales in Online Real Estate Auction

Only three of the 70 properties offered were sold in the first digital auction organized by the Costa Rican Chamber of Real Estate.

The properties include lots, houses, condos, apartments and unfinished developments which form part of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica’s assets, repossessed from customers who defaulted on their loans.

An article by Juan Pablo Arias in Nacion.com explains that "’The level of participation was not as expected, this is a new procedure in Costa Rica’, said Miguel Fiatt, representative of the chamber, who also commented that ‘in the bidding there were only 15 people eligible to be granted any of the properties.' "

The organizers said a new auction will be scheduled for December, with a portfolio of properties to be offered with a base price of 50% of the appraised value.

In the electronic Cup of Excellence auction 46 lots were sold, with maximum payments reaching $1,410 per hundredweight.

Without beating the prices paid at the auctions of specialty coffee in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and El Salvador, in Panama lot of Esmeralda Geisha Natural Jaramillo coffee, from the Peterson family, won first place in the auction, with a priced of $140 ,10 per pound.

The batch by the Fidel coffee farm, processed by the mill Olymar Lucia III, won the Cup of Excellence with a price of $3010 per quintal.

The best price achieved in the online auction Cup of Excellence, was by coffee from the Villa Zamora farm, processed by Brumas del Zurquí.

As for price, the second place went to Dragon farm, at $2.008 per quintal, which was acquired by the companies Time's Club for C-COOP (Japan) and Coffee Libre (South Korea).

Between September 13 and 21, Banco Nacional will auction 70 properties on the Internet.

The platform for electronic auction - www.subasta-cccbr.com was presented by the Costa Rican Chamber of Real Estate and Banco Nacional.

Chévez Diego, director of Banco Nacional 's assets told Nacion.com, "The auction goes online today (12 September) worldwide, the first properties we have for investors will appear here.
