Although housing supply is still very scarce, changes in the patterns of consumption and the lifestyle of Salvadorans are driving an urban renewal in the capital.  Angel Antonio Díaz, President of Casalco, commented: "...'We are seeing that the people who work and want the services that are in the city, want to live in the city itself... We see that high rise buildings are trending. In general terms, we are seeing that little by little there is more tendency to build within what has already been built."

"... He stated that there are about 40 high rise projects with intention of private investment in the south zone of San Salvador, which will be used for real estate, offices and commerce. He emphasized that the execution of these projects depends on factors such as financing or the granting of permits."
