Fast-food Chains Propose New Investments

In Costa Rica, fast food restaurant chains plan to open at least 14 new sales points in different areas of the country next year.

Some of the companies planning to expand their restaurant chain in 2019 include: Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Subway, KFC and QSR International, and their key commitment to further expansion will be to move into smaller locations.

According to fast-food company representatives, the plans are to invest in new commercial premises in different areas of the provinces of San José, Alajuela, Heredia and Limón.

Regarding new investments in increasing their sales points, Mauricio Rodriguez, operations manager of Taco Bell, said to Elfinanciero.com that "... always seek more proximity and ease for their consumers, so do not identify saturated areas. We identify new opportunities to expand the brand in the national territory, reach a greater part of the population, whether with our standard formats or a little smaller local."

On the other hand, Isidro Perera, KFC's country brand manager, explained that "... While there is greater brand adoption, opportunities are in the development of smaller restaurant prototypes that can reach smaller markets."
