Fast food: Chain projects new investments

By 2021 in Costa Rica, the fast food restaurant chain Burger King plans to invest in the start-up of five new stores that will be located inside and outside the Greater Metropolitan Area.

According to information provided by the directors of the company, the new service points will be located in the surroundings of La Sabana, Alajuela, eastern sector of San José, Cartago and one outside the Greater Metropolitan Area whose location is still under study.

During 2020 and in the context of the pandemic, the restaurant chain bet on the Costa Rican market by investing in the opening of four new establishments. Currently Burger King operates 27 stores in the country.

Vladimir Monestel, Marketing Director of Burger King told Elobservador.cr that "... the company has bet on novelty, good prices and friendly and safe places in these almost 5 years (since it restarted operations in Costa Rica)" .

Regarding the strategies applied in this context of pandemic, Monestel explained that "... the pandemic meant important adjustments for the company, but it managed not only to maintain its payroll but also opened points of sale and expanded its menu." For example, the company offered familiar products at an affordable price. In addition, it launched promotions such as free Whopper-flavored dog biscuits to those who bought a meal.

Representatives of the company informed that the new premises will be located in Nicoya, Orotina, Quepos, San Rafael de Alajuela, Turrialba and San Ramón. In the case of the sales point in Nicoya, it was inaugurated last September 17.

KFC chain will invest $3 million to open three new restaurants and $1 million to remodel other locations already operating in the country.

The company reported that the new restaurants, which will begin operations in 2019, will be located in Escazú, Limón and Heredia, and those that will be remodeled are located in downtown San José, Alajuela and in Multicentro de Desamparados.
