Fast Food: Chains with Investment Plans

Pizza Hut, KFC and Subway are some of the fast food chains that plan to invest in opening new restaurants during 2020.

The Pizza Hut chain plans to invest close to $1.8 million in the opening of six new stores this year. The points of sale could be located in the areas of Aserrí, Paraíso de Cartago and San Ramón de Alajuela.

KFC is another company that plans to invest. In this case, plans to spend $2.7 million in the adaptation of three restaurants, which would be in Limon, South Sabana and West Alajuela. reports that "... Subway plans to expand coverage with four more locations in 2020, which would be located inside and outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM)."

The article adds that "... Other restaurants that have not ruled out opening stores in Costa Rica are McDonald's (opened three stores in 2019) and Carl's Jr. (no openings in the last two years). The firm did not detail what its plans are."

The announcement of these new investments in restaurants, comes in a context where the casual food chain Applebee's decided to close its operations in the country, arguing that there were problems of profitability.
