Extension of Pharmaceutical Plant in El Salvador

With the $8 million investment in the renovation and expansion of its plant in Soyapango, Laboratorios Lopez aims to enter the Colombian and Mexican markets.

After Laboratorios Lopez was acquired by the Colombian company Grupo Procaps four years ago, the company began expanding the production plant located at kilometer 5.5, Bulevard del Ejército Nacional, Soyapango, in the country's capital.


According to company representatives, the first stage of the expansion project consists of the construction of a second level that will have an extension of 2,780 m2, which will be added to the 1,850 m2 of the first level. These projects began in October last year and are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019.

Regarding the second stage, the project controller, Juan Carlos Velez, explained to Elsalvador.com that "... it will be implemented in 2019 and will include a manufacturing plant for liquids and solids. This is a medium-term project that will be developed over five years, between 2018 and 2022."

On the other hand, the laboratory's Production Director, Patricia Villegas, explained that "... the infrastructure expansion project also seeks to triple the capacity of the plant, in other words, to produce 300% more than today."

 
The company's purpose in modernizing its facilities is to be certified for export to Mexico and Colombia.

Increased Investment in Pharmaceutical Plant
