Energy: 63 MW Awarded in Guatemala

Guatemala's National Electrification Institute was awarded the contract to supply 63 MW of power for the period from May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020.

In a tender process convened by Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala, S.A. (EEGSA), the Instituto Nacional de Electrificación (INDE) was awarded the contract for the energy supply, after this participant offered the lowest price.

Elperiodico.com.gt reviews that "... The award was made to the INDE with the lowest bid. The event began with a price of US$8.81 per kW per month and the state entity was the one that offered the price with which EEGSA decided to award the purchase of power for one year. According to EEGSA, six companies participated in the event that will allow it to contract the power.

The article adds that "... In addition to INDE, Orazul Energy Guatemala y Cía., Alternativa de Energía Renovable, Hidroeléctrica Río Las Vacas, Agro Comercializadora del Polochic and Oxec II, S. A." participated in the event."

Electricity: 120MW Awarded in New Contracts

The La Unión and San Diego sugar mills were some of the companies that won contracts to supply energy to EEGSA for the next five years.

For the first of the five years, from March 27, 2020 to April 30, 2021, the San Diego sugar mill was awarded 58 MW, Orazul 30 MW, La Unión 13 MW, San José 10 MW, Tecnoguat 8 MW and the National Institute of Electrification (Inde) one MW.

Energy Guatemala: Eleven Contracts Awarded

April 2016

Most of the contracts awarded by Eneguate and EEGSA were for generators using biomass and coal or bunker.

According to data provided by Empresa Electrica de Guatemala (EEGs) eleven contracts were awarded to generators in the Open Tender 1-2016.

The power price quoted was $5.88 per kilowatt month (kWm), and the monomic power price with energy reached $61 per megawatt hour (MWh)

Contracts Awarded for 210 MW of Power

April 2015

In Guatemala six bidders were selected in the tender for 210 MW of power and energy for the period between May 2015 and April 2016.

The companies chosesn were Central Generadora Santa Lucía, Ingenio La Unión, Compañía Agrícola Industrial Santa Ana, Duke Energy Guatemala, Biomass Energy and Ingenio Magdalena.
