Businessmen from several countries participate in Nicaragua's tourism forum

Businessmen from Canada, Costa Rica, Spain, the United States, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Nicaragua will take part in a tourism forum whose goal is to promote investment in this country, according to official sources.

The one-day event, called "Invest in Nicaragua: Explore New Horizons" will take place in Leon, 90 kilometers northeast of Managua.
It is sponsored by the official agency Promotion of Nicaragua Investments (Pro-Nicaragua) and the U.S. program Millennium Challenge Account. It will be coordinated by institutions of the Government of Nicaragua.

Costa Rica boosts tourist promotion in US and Canada

Costa Rica is to invest US$14 million this year in tourist promotion in the United States and Canada amid fears that the difficulties faced by the US economy could lead to a decline in visitors, Tourism Minister Carlos Benavides said.

Benavides told press conference that the campaign would project Costa Rica as a "sustainable" destination with unique appeal.

Exploring the wonders of Honduras

At a reception, executives of the Honduran Chamber of Tourism, the Secretariat of Tourism and Educational Television launched a competition to select the nation's 10 natural wonders and an equal number of man-made wonders. The goal is to unite the people of Honduras and to emphasize national identity and cultural values, as well as to allow Hondurans and foreigners to recognize the beauty of the nation.

The competition will take place in two stages over a six-month period. The first stage goes from May 1 to July 30, and the second from August 1 to October 30. Hondurans will vote on the order of importance of the nation's 10 natural and man-made wonders.

New campaign launched to promote Honduras as a tourist destination

The Honduras Tourism Ministry today launched a new campaign with its "country brand" to promote its tourist attractions internationally.

The new campaign will cost 1.265 million dollars. Of this 750,000 will be spent in the United States, said Tourism Minister Ricardo Martínez. Another 250,000 dollars will be spent on promotions in Central America, and the rest will promote domestic tourism in Honduras.

Guatemala predicts an expansion of tourism

Authorities in Guatemala's tourism sector are hoping for an increase of close to eight per cent of visitors to the country this year.

Statements from the Guatemalan Tourist Institute indicate that conditions are right to achieve this goal despite the problems of the world economy.
