Electronic signatures come into force in Guatemala

Transactions or electronic documents will be legally valid starting October 1.

This is in accordance with Decree 47-2008, the Law for the recognition of electronic communications and signatures that was published yesterday in the Diario de Centroamerica (Central American newspaper).
An electronic signature can be obtained from a certifying entity such as the CCG by presenting ID documents and filling out the necessary paperwork.

El Salvador: Electronic Signature Law In Effect

A law has come into force which grants legal equivalence to signatures in transactions made via electronic means.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador:

The new Law on Electronic Signatures, adopted by the Legislature last October, took effect this April 26, 2016, converting the Ministry of Economy into the Accrediting Entity for Digital Signatures.

Digital Signature Active in Costa Rica

Electronic Signature to Begin on June 15 in Guatemala

Authorities of the Ministry of the Economy announced the date when the Electronic Signatures Registry (REF) will begin to operate.

Deputy Economy Minister Erasmo Velásquez stated that they will be publishing the regulations, which will give a legal base to the registry, in the coming days.

New law supports development of e-commerce in Guatemala

The "Recognition of Electronic Communications and Signatures" Law that was approved and legalizes the recognition of electronic communications and signatures.

With the implementation of this new law, Guatemala will join El Salvador and Costa Rica, two other countries that have adopted similar laws.
