Electrical Works: $15 Million Investment Expected

The National Electrification Institute of Guatemala plans to build the Santa María II electrical substation, to be located in the village of Santa Maria de Jesus, in the municipality of Zunil, Quetzaltenango.

According to the interactive platform "Construction in Central America" of CentralAmericaData's Business Intelligence area, the National Electrification Institute submitted to the Ministry of Environment the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) to develop the project called "Arizona Plant Capacity Expansion."

The project will be developed in a total area of 280,466 square meters. The area of occupation and construction will be 27,724 square meters (131.90 meters by 164.70 meters).

The document specifies that the construction of the following infrastructure is foreseen:
-Basic infrastructure of 230 kV in switch and Medium configuration.
-Basic 69 kV infrastructure in main bus plus transfer configuration.
-One 230 kV diameter in switch and half configuration.
-Half-diameter 230 kV in breaker and half configuration.
-Two 69 kV line entry connection fields in main bus plus transfer configuration.
-One coupling field in 69 kV main bus plus transfer configuration.
Single-phase 230/69 kV, 150+50 MVA transformer bank.
-Ancillary services r Protection, control and measurement equipment.

According to the EIA, about $14.7 million will be invested in this project.

Electricity Works for $12 million

Plans are underway to build a 9.6-kilometer-long transmission line between the substations of the future GTPP plant and that of Sabanitas, located in the province of Colón, Panama.

The company Martano Inc submitted an Environmental Impact Study (EIA) to build a 9.6-kilometer-long transmission line from the site of the future substation in the Río Alejandro Energetic Park project to the Sabanitas substation, owned by Empresa de Transmisión S.A.
