Electric Generators: Salvadoran Market Figures

In the first three months of 2018 imports of electric motors and generators added up to $16 million, a figure that is triple the $5 million that the Central American country bought in the same period in 2017.

Variation of imports  
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the import value of electric motors and generators in El Salvador grew by 203%, going from $5.2 million to $15.9 million. 

For the months in question this year, an atypical purchase was reported, since companies in the country imported $13.8 million worth of machinery from Croatia, a situation that had not been registered in the last seven years.

Origin of imports 
From January to March of this year, 87% of the import value came from Croatia, 4% from the USA, 2% from China, 1% from Mexico and 1% from Germany.

The USA it is the origin market for imports that has declined the most in the last seven years. In 2012 it represented 58% of the total import value, and this year the figure dropped to 4%.

Guatemala Buys More Electric Generators

July 2018

Between January and March of this year, companies in Guatemala imported $8 million worth of electric generators, 18% more than in the same period in 2017, and 55% came from the United States and China.

Central America Buys More Electric Generators

May 2018

In 2017, purchases of electric motors and generators from Central American countries totaled $152 million, which represents an increase of 3% compared to the previous year.
