Regional imports increase
Between January and September 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value of imported electric motors and generators in Central America increased considerably, from $108 million to $195 million.

This increase at the Central American level is because of the behavior of purchases of Salvadoran companies from Spanish companies, since only during September 2018 imports from the European country amounted to $84 million.

El Salvador, main importer
In the first nine months of last year the main buyer of electric motors and generators in Central America was El Salvador, with $112 million, followed by Guatemala, with $31 million, Costa Rica, with $19 million, Panama, with $16 million, Honduras, with $11 million and Nicaragua, with $6 million.

Main suppliers
From January to September 2018 50% of the value imported from Central America came from Spain, 14% from the USA, 7% from China, 7% from Croatia, 3% from Germany and 3% from Mexico.

Spain is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown the most for the period concerned in the last seven years, since in 2012 it represented 11% of the total value purchased and in 2018 reached 50%.
