El Salvador Negotiates $500 Million Loan

The loan is being negotiated with BNDES, the National Development Bank of Brazil, and would be used in development projects.

President Mauricio Funes expects to sign the loan in the first quarter of 2010.

"According to Funes, the loan being negotiated is for $500 million and would be geared to supporting micro, small and medium companies", reported Invertia.

SMEs Lent Only 39% of Available Capital

In Costa Rica there are 45 credit programs for SMEs, which in the first six months of 2012 placed $582 million, 66% of which were for the services and trade sectors.

Mauricio Álvarez, strategic planner at Bantrab, explained they had also negotiated credit lines with Dresdner Bank, Wells Fargo and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

$ 8 Million for Salvadoran SMEs

The IFC approved a loan for Financiera Integral, designed to provide credit to Small and Medium Enterprises.

The funds will also be used for granting loans for housing and agriculture.

"In 2009, the company gave credit for 41.255 different areas, an amount less than that recorded in 2008 when loans were granted for 53.618 different areas," reports the article in Elsalvador.com.

$5 Million for ProCredit Honduras

August 2010

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and Banco ProCredit Honduras have signed an agreement to open a credit line to finance micro-companies and SMEs.

With the $5 million credit line ProCredit seeks to strengthen its portfolio of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Honduras.
