El Salvador - UK Chamber of Commerce

With the creation of the new union the aim is to promote Salvadoran exports in the European country and use it as a gateway to the rest of the continent.

Among the products identified as having potential for export to the UK are textiles, food, drinks, coffee and ornamental plants, explained David Huezo, president of the new union.

"... Additionally, Huezo recalled that by promoting business with the UK, the world's fifth largest economy, companies have a "gateway" towards the EU, a market with 500 million people with high purchasing power.

Elmundo.sv reports that "... The British ambassador in the country, Bernhard Garside said that the signing of the statutes of creation are the end result of two years of work, during time work was done on improving access to that market, which has about 64 million high level consumers. "

Identifying business and investment opportunities between the two countries is one of the goals of the newly created business chamber.

One of the sectors that could benefit is linked to organic and natural goods production, considering that "... British-Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce Announced

The British Embassy announced the opening, this March 15th, of a British-Costa Rica Chamber of Commerce .

The project is being promoted by the embassy of Great Britain and the investment and trade promotion agency in the country, UK Trade & Investment.

As explained by representatives of the embassy in a statement, one of the "main aspects which informed the creation of the chamber is the affinity with British and Costa Rican firms in the field of the audiovisual and entertainment software industry," reports Nation.com.
