El Salvador: Tender for 150 MW

The DELSUR power distributorm company has announced it will publish the conditions for a tender on 10 February for the provision of 150 MW of renewable energy .

The design of the tender is being developed in coordination with the General Superintendency of Electricity and Telecommunications (Siget), and distribution companies, said Luis Reyes, executive secretary of the National Energy Council (CNE) to Elmundo.com.sv.

"... The CNE said in August last year that it would start planning a new tender for renewable energy, after the results of a study determined the maximum capacity of wind power and solar photovoltaic that the network can safely receive. The projects, in order to be eligible, must generate a minimum of 5 MW.

"... Preliminarily, the Government believes that these new renewable energy projects will represent an investment of $300 million over the next two years."
