El Salvador Sells Land for Beach Hotel

A property belonging to the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation will be offered to companies with experience in tourist oceanfront management.

Laprensagrafica.com reports that "The Minister of Tourism, Napoleon Duarte, presented yesterday to the Committee of the Legislative Assembly details of a proposed sale of state property in order to build a hotel."

This is a property belonging to the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (CORSATUR) to be sold to "private investors interested in developing tourism projects".

In total there are six properties, totaling 453.8 m² which the state wants to sell to private investors with extensive experience in the operation of beach resorts, and which are currently managing at least 1,500 rooms in this type of establishment.

They are also required to have experience in tourist beach hotels in at least four countries in Latin America.

Another condition for the buyer is "a commitment to starting the project within a minimum period of four months after purchase," and that they are committed to respecting environmental standards.

The Panamanian government will announce in the coming weeks a tender for several tourist developments in the area.

The executive secretary of the Management Unit for Reverted Property (UABR in Spanish), Juan Carlos Orillac said they have already completed a development plan for the area prepared by the Spanish consulting firm C4T .

$6 Million in Touristic Projects in El Salvador

Tourism authorities green-lighted two touristic projects: "Torre del Mirador" and "Solaris IV".

Hotel "Torre del Mirador" is the largest of the two, and will require an investment of $5 million. It is located in Colonia Escalón, and will feature 102 rooms and conventions center.
